What You Learn
Our Certification Program spans one year of intensive study designed for high school graduates and above whose goal is to work and succeed in the music business.
The Academy teaches a wide range of contemporary music including Blues, Jazz, Rock & Roll, Hip Hop and Pop with focused attention on Gospel, Soul, and music arranging.
Through our classes on Recording, Production, and Industry Business Issues, our students learn how to develop and thrive as a successful independent business. Our business classes focus on time and resource management as well as business basics to give a framework both simple and essential to success.
With its world-class, full-service, multi-use facility, the Memphis Music Academy attracts faculty and students from around the world to come and put a piece of Memphis in their soul. The Academy is a dynamic institution where history and the future meet; a home for great artists to form and build their legacy.
Through its certification programs, mentoring, and instruction, the Academy teaches students, artists, and business professionals the real-life skills and expertise needed to extend and showcase their talents.

Talent attracting talent is a theme the Memphis Music Academy strongly advocates. Each member of our teaching staff is a successful musician or industry professional. Each member of our staff comes to us because of the opportunity we provide to instruct and mentor the next generation of musical talent. In turn, students come to the Academy for the opportunity to learn from the best, from well-known and up-and-coming artists and industry professionals with a passion for music.
Highlighting the specific talents of our artists/instructors is a priority. Students learn by seeing success in action. CD and video material featuring our artists/instructors will be available soon through our on-line Store.

To do this, the Academy partners with recording studios, venues, and various businesses to offer you the chance to work at everything from movie scoring and jingles to recording sessions and live performance. Through our partnerships and connections, we produce talent showcases for both students and instructors at various local venues and regional/national music festivals.
